I joined Assurity Consulting in May 2017 as a trainee consultant, and after my experience gained as a full qualified Consultant over 4 years, I was was promoted to Senior Consultant in November 2021. My role now is to provide support to our customers on a number of health and safety matters to make sure they comply with legislation. I am largely involved from a technical point of view and particularly enjoy the problem-solving side of the job to help customers with their challenges on site.
The consultant role is so varied. Not only is there the technical side of the job but I also manage a large proportion of our biggest account, as well as managing other large accounts for the company which has helped me to develop my commercial skills further. I have built strong relationships with our customers through meetings, report presentations and providing further consultancy support. This is what makes the consultant role so unique as there is always something going on to keep you busy and motivated!
My favourite part of the consultant role (as corny as it may sound) is the people. Internally we have a fantastic team and I have made some great friends since joining the business. Then there are the customers and people we meet onsite, who are such a big part of our working day. I have also been very lucky to travel all over the UK and rest of the world to support our customers, including trips to, Switzerland, Germany and Dubai, to name a few.
As a company, Assurity Consulting make sure there is always something fun going on whether that be local charity events such as the dragon boat race, sport activities or cake on a Friday because...why not?
The company are not afraid to push you further and will invest in you as long as you work hard and demonstrate interest in your own development. Initially I completed Workplace Environmental Assessments for our customers which gave me a good platform to build my technical knowledge and commercial understanding of the industry. I have since gone on to develop my skills further and now carry out Legionella risk assessments and Fire risk assessments too.
