I joined Assurity Consulting in November 2020 as a Trainee Consultant, after graduating from university with a BSE in Geography. After university, I knew that I wanted to embark on a career where I wouldn’t just be sat in an office – but where I could travel and get out and about. When I saw the Graduate Consultant role advertised on my university’s career zone – I knew it was the role for me.
After completing my training, I qualified as a fully-fledged Consultant in January 2021, and first became competent to deliver our Workplace Environmental Assessments. Since then, I have also qualified to carry out fire risk assessments, and Assurity Consulting supported me in getting my NEBOSH certificate in fire safety. This was something I otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to do, so I’ve had some great opportunities.
I enjoy my role because it is really varied. I get to travel and interact with different people daily, attend networking events, and manage some of our major customer accounts. I get to do my job at some interesting places – such as a major theatre, where I even got to see costumes, set designs, and part of a rehearsal for “The Nutcracker”! My fully expensed company car is a great benefit to have as well, as this has given me lots of freedom in my personal time too. So, this really is a role that stands out from the rest!
My favourite part about being a Consultant is the travel. I’ve been lucky enough to go on European trips to cities such as to Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, and Geneva. After the job is done, I like to use my free time to explore foreign cities I’m visiting, such as going around the renowned Christmas markets in Geneva!
Back at our head office in Horsham, everyone is really welcoming. It’s great to be in a role with both so much freedom, as well as the support of such a great team back in the office, who I can always go back to socialise with as well.
