In 2012, Nigel Dean joined Roffey Park Institute as their Head of Commercial Operations. At that time Nigel wanted to review the overall health and safety management within the organisation to make sure everything was in place. With 34,000 visitors every year, multiple rooms, multiple buildings, 40 acres of grounds, one of the biggest challenges is to keep everybody safe, secure and the site well maintained and well presented. Nigel wanted an organisation to support him and his team in keeping up to date with health and safety best practice and on track with legislation. He instructed Assurity Consulting to review and create an updated health and safety management system, and the basis of that system is still being used daily.

Food service is an important part of the Roffey Park experience and their restaurant provides exactly the right ambience for their guests to share experiences while enjoying freshly prepared food. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the in-house chefs pride themselves on serving high quality food using local sourced ingredients, where possible, as well as ingredients from their own kitchen garden.

In 2019, after some changes in the catering team, Assurity Consulting were asked to oversee Roffey Park’s food safety programme. This involved the Head Chef and a food safety Consultant from Assurity Consulting working together to make sure that the food production and food service processes are run as safely as possible.

“The world of health and safety and legislation is changing so quickly and for myself and my team to keep up with best practice, regulation, and legislation is very difficult in this day and age. Assurity Consulting keep us on track, they keep us advised, they keep us up to date and I feel, as much as I can, confident that we are doing the right thing to be compliant with our health and safety management.”
