This week the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) published a reminder for all businesses to “ensure they are working safely to reduce the risk of COVID-19”, as part of its Weekly Digest eBulletin.
HSE have already carried out over 300,000 COVID-19 spot checks since the start of the pandemic, and these are likely to continue until the end of the year we’ve heard.
The reminder also comes following the successful prosecution of a construction contractor, where during a proactive COVID-19 spot check visit, “multiple health and safety issues” were identified at a site in Manchester.
With organisations looking to establish their own return to work policies and procedures, this is a timely reminder that health and safety compliance remains in the spotlight, and investing in the right solutions still pays dividends, legally, morally financially and reputationally.
